Fidel Romero learned to tattoo in Mexico City and began tattooing professionally in 1993 in Cozumel. He gives credit to Diamond Glenn and Jim Chiavaroli of Austin, Texas for teaching him the technical aspect of the trade. He has been tattooing in Winnipeg, Canada since 2004 at The Crypt.
