Plot
A man in his early 30s struggles to find a balance in his life between being a new dad and his involvement in a motorcycle club.

Tattoos
Tattoos feature prominently in the show. Members are all tattooed with the club logo and Jax (Charlie Hunnam) is frequently shown without a shirt on, showing his full back tattoo. In addition to their Sons of Anarchy tattoos, members have numerous other tattoos. Members of the white supremacist gangs are also shown sporting tattoos, most baring the swastika and known white power symbols.

- Season 1, Episode 5: Giving Back - An excommunicated member did not remove the tattoo when he was kicked out of the club. The club finds out and removes the tattoo for him with a blowtorch.
- Season 3, Episode 12: June Wedding - It is revealed that Margaret, the hospital administrator, has a large biker tattoo on her back. She confesses to Tara that she used to run with a biker gang when she was young.
- Season 5, Episode 12: Darthy - At the end of the episode we see Happy (played by David Labrava, who owns a tattoo studio in Oakland, CA) blacking any Sons of Anarchy tattoos that Clay had on his body.
- Happy is shown tattooing a smiley face on his abdomen after killing someone. Several other smiley faces accompany it.
- In addition to his club tattoos, Jax has the names of his sons, Able and Thomas, tattooed on his body.
