New Guinea is the world's second largest island, located north of Australia (world's largest island). The current population is an estimated ~7.5 Million (as of 2005).
New Guinea is the traditional home to various tribes, the best known being Ibitoe, who were known for their efforts at Corsetry and their pierced septums. The Ibitoe were a major influence on Fakir Musafar's own efforts.
