A method of permanent female sterilization wherein the oviducts (popularly known as fallopian tubes) are surgically tied or severed to remove the possibility of pregnancy. Tubal ligation, as with any method of sterilization, does not eliminate the need for safe sex. Condoms and other protective barriers should still be used to prevent transmission of disease.
