tribal-chic and the rebirth of primitivism

Many modern Westerns find an appealing nobility and truth in elements of more "primitive" tribal cultures, and as a result of that respect emulate aspects of those cultures. This emulation may include body rites such as suspension, "tribal" tattooing, body painting, drum circles, psychedelic drug use, and shamanism.

The more common word for the neo-primitivism movement is "Modern Primitives".
