Bert Grimm (February 8, 1900- May 16, 1985) was a tattoo artist from a small town near Portland, Oregon.
Biography
He started hanging out at tattoo shops when he was 11 or 12. He moved to Long Beach, CA in 1952. During the 50's and 60's he tattooed many sailors in his shop in Nu-Pike in Long Beach, California. He operated many shops throughout the years in Chicago, Honolulu, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Seattle, Los Angeles, Long Beach, St Louis, Portland and Seaside Oregon, and China. In 1983, he was the second person to have been inducted into the Tattoo Hall of Fame. In 1970 he sold his shop in Long Beach and retired. Though soon after he opened a new shop in Portland and worked there until 1977, when he became ill.
He did Lyle Tuttle's backpiece and Betty Broadbent's upper legs. [1]
Since his death, his artwork has been shown in several exhibits.
