Flesh Plating

Flesh plating is a variant on flesh stapling (both were popularized through the work of Samppa of Mad Max in Finland) where flat plates are used instead of traditional rod-shaped jewelry. In addition, to aid in healing, the part of the jewelry that lies under the skin may be drilled. The theory, borrowed from transdermal implants, holds that skin will heal through these holes, bonding the metal in place.

It has proven problematic to maintain good skin health and cleanliness under the jewelry.
